In September, Project 2.0 / Gallery will present ROOT, a new showcase by artist Casper Faassen in which he returns to painting to further tell his story.

With negative space being a central theme in the development of his photographic work, Casper Faassen desires to deepen this in his paintings. In his photography, the negative space surround the subject, yet in his latest series of paintings, Casper makes the subject the empty space while paint fills the surroundings of the canvas. This is most evident in the central piece of the exhibition, the portrait of his father, in which the space that he usually occupied is left open, signifying his absence.
