The Textile Biennale 2023. Images of Power is an international exhibition of high-quality and substantively strong contemporary visual art in which textiles as a material play the leading role.

In recent years, a topical and substantive theme has been linked to the biennales that addresses the most pressing issues we face worldwide. Climate change, our relationship to food, being at home/having a home and transition were the themes of the past three years.

The Textile Biennale 2023 has the theme Images of Power. The starting point is the imagination of all possible forms of power that are being scrutinized and discussed at this juncture. We invite artists to submit a proposal that in their work gives a vision of all possible representations of power. This can be about world leaders, local governments, international organizations, multinationals and interest groups. We also draw attention to power structures in a smaller, more personal context; in a family, at work or in any other social context.

The Textile Biennale 2023 will show the many interpretation possibilities and meanings of the representation of power that artists give it in their work. The sum of visions on the theme of Images of Power are testimonials to the need for a new world order and trust in those in power.
