On the evening of Thursday December 8th, 1646 is hosting Su Hui Yu's residency event. For this event, Su will go in conversation with curator, writer and researcher Julian Ross, who does an ongoing research on asian cinema, and in particular Japanese expanded cinema.
In his work, Su reviews and reflects Taiwanese and East-Asian history, revisiting misunderstood figures, events and phenomena. Through the approach of 're-shooting' (shooting new films based on old ones), Su engages with taboos of the past and present while exploring the mechanism of oppression and liberation tied to Taiwanese cultural values.
Door opens at 19:00, the talk starts at 19:30.
