ANITA GROENER. TO THE EDGE OF YOUR WORLD

The Paper Biennale 2022. Transition attracted a record number of visitors (13,150). Visitors could vote for their favorite artist. With a convincing majority of 5,530 votes, more than a third, Anita Groener has won the Audience Award; a solo exhibition in Museum Rijswijk.

Anita Groener (1958) is a Dutch artist who has been living and working in Dublin for many years. She exhibits throughout Europe and her works are included in museum and private collections worldwide. Since 2015, the focus in her work has largely been on the dialectic of being at home and displacement. Since the beginning of mankind, people have traveled the world, sometimes by choice, but often motivated by hunger, insecurity and war.

A record number of people are currently forced to flee, leaving home, hearth, family and loved ones behind. For this group of people, transition is a forced reality. The artwork that was exhibited at the Paper Biennale is called Prolonged by a hundred shadows . In the work, Anita Groener shows the viewer how vulnerable we all are as human beings. The use of the black paper makes everyone equal, so you can easily identify with the people who are on their way to the unknown with heavy packs.
In the exhibition Anita Groener. To the Edge of Your World, the diversity in her oeuvre will become visible.
